Most humans love to pretend to have scientific knowledge they don't, they don't even stop to think for a moment. That segment of what Chomsky sees as the intellectually dishonest (stuck in outmoded dogma) segment of what Chomsky and others call "the hard sciences", along with, Chomsky points out, most people within the "soft" sciences, eg social sciences, not to mention those who fall even further outside the 'hard science' westerners and others treat with a kind of fanatical religious blind faith and zeal are so disconnected they say (or the 'elites' they bow blindly to say) that "the copenhagen interpretation" doesn't mean reality is actually indeterminate, they now claim it's just a feature of the way we measure the world (which is exactly the opposite of what quantum mechanics is saying). The reality is: there is no universal spatial background, there is no universal temporal flow. In fact: it's not just the case that we can't measure it because our measurements are relative, it IS all relative, the reality is relative.
Feynman's answer to these backward westerners is as follows: << And then there's saying that you don't understand it, meaning "I don't believe it, it's too crazy, it's the kind of thing I'm not going to accept."
